keep it simple...

acrylic 4" x 4"

After starting, and abandoning, two other paintings today, I landed on this one and decided that I need to just keep it simple.  There are so many variables when it comes to painting (never mind painting people) that I want to eliminate unnecessary things like background and details.  My hope is to just learn how to mix color and paint the planes of a head. Let's see if I can stick to that!

  1. Hi Cindy- I already miss going to Lisa's class. I've been having a rough painting week myself. (Tonight I painted over the same panel 3 times) But it looks like you're doing great! I really like this one!

  2. Thanks Shannon! I wish Lisa's class was still going too... Do you have a blog were you post your work? I'd love to see what you've been working on. One of the best part of being in a class is seeing everyone else's work and how they work!

  3. I've been trying to get a blog going, but so far I've just reserved the name.... haha. It will be shannonbauer.blogspot.com but there's nothing there at the moment. I do have some work up on etsy. It's sbauerart.etsy.com if you get a chance to check it out. But I do need some more classes!

    1. What beautiful landscapes! Great brushstrokes and colors. You should put them on your (empty) blog! I find it motivates me to keep painting every day if I know I have to post every day. I even post things I not that happy with just so that I hold myself accountable to paint (almost) every day. You should check out Carol Marine's ArtByte on the Daily Paintworks called "My Take on Daily Painting" and how she started out painting during naptime.
